A popular reusable coffee cup has been recalled due to a serious risk of injury from hot liquid or steam burns. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued the notice after one consumer using the Anko double-walled coffee cup was injured.

The ACCC stated that the cup’s lid may unexpectedly release and pop off when filled with hot liquid due to the absence of a pressure release valve. This defect poses a significant danger of hot liquid or steam burns if the lid ejects from the cup.

The Anko-branded double-walled cups, available in sage green, black, rose gold, and peach, were sold at Kmart and Target stores both nationally and internationally, as well as online, between December 18, 2024, and April 7, 2025.

Consumers were advised to discontinue using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recall notice provided contact details for Kmart and Target customer service for consumers seeking assistance or refunds.
