Joshua Vincent’s journey into the world of coffee began with a simple $29 popcorn machine. A hobby driven by curiosity and a passion for quality coffee, he roasted his first batch of beans in his kitchen six years ago, initially skeptical but pleasantly surprised by the results. This marked the humble origins of what would eventually blossom into a thriving local business in Penrith.
Starting with experimenting in his kitchen, Josh’s dedication to honing his craft led him to build a small roasting room in his garage after two years. Upgrading to a 1kg roaster, he delved deeper into the art and science of coffee roasting. Exploring the diverse flavor profiles of beans from different regions, he found joy in blending notes of caramel, chocolate, peach, dried fruits, citrus, floral, and nutty undertones to create unique coffee blends suited for various brewing methods.
Over the next four years, Josh’s passion evolved into a clear vision of establishing a coffee business. A pivotal moment came when he connected with a local café owner, leading to the opportunity to take over Little House Coffee Co from retiring owners, Paul and Bunty Grech. This marked a significant turning point, propelling Josh and his wife Judith into the heart of Penrith’s coffee scene with an established brand and a loyal customer base.
Today, as the new custodians of Little House Coffee Co, Josh and Judith continue to expand their reach, supplying freshly roasted coffee to an increasing number of home brewers and local businesses. Beyond roasting, they are committed to nurturing the coffee community by offering barista training courses, aiming to cultivate the next generation of coffee professionals.
With ambitions to cement Little House Coffee Co as a household name in Penrith and beyond, Josh remains steadfast in his commitment to roasting coffee with care, passion, and purpose. Each batch of coffee tells a story that traces back to his beginnings with a popcorn machine, a curious mind, and an unwavering love for coffee.
Looking ahead, Josh envisions a future where Little House Coffee Co becomes synonymous with quality and community in Penrith, a testament to his journey from a popcorn machine to a pivotal player in the local coffee scene.
